Auntie Tara's Wedding

Back in August, Mia and I were in my little sister Tara's wedding.  We practiced at home what a flower girl needs to do at a wedding and she was all set.  At the rehearsal we were gathered in the lobby of the church and all the groomsmen were around.  They are all big, tall, loud, and acting pretty silly.  Well, Mia wanted no part of that and began crying.  She cried pretty much the entire hour of rehearsal, never walked down the aisle, had to be carried by my brother.  Oh boy!  She was not going to be happy until we left that place.

So come wedding day, we tried to plan for every scenario: refusing to walk, crying, screaming, etc.  We kept Mia back in the nursery/play room until the last possible moment.  Back in the lobby of the church she was starting to get a bit weepy, didn't want to carry the flower basket (was O.K. with just holding the flowers), and she was still carrying a set of plastic keys from the nursery.  Finally it was her turn.  My friend who was her "wrangler" just pretty much set her down, my brother took her hand and said, "Let's go see NaiNai (Grandma)" and that was that.

She walked just fine.  No smiles, but no crying either.  We'll take it.  Later she had a great time at the dinner, running around and playing with her friend Hannah that came too.

Hangin' out before the ceremony
Look she's walking and NO tears!
Tired girl, it'd been a long day
Still not going to smile for that photographer
