For all you geography buffs, here's a bit for you. LaoLao is in Yangchun City in Guangdong province. It is in southern China and is yellow on this map, right near Hong Kong. Guangdong province (also know as Canton) is the most populous province in China. The predominant language is Cantonese. This is also that location of the American Consulate in Guangzhou, a stop for every American family adopting in China. Because LaoLao is nearby, we will be staying in Guangzhou for both the adoption and the American Consulate parts of the trip. (FYI- Mia is from Anhui province which is in the central/east part of China and is green on this map.)
Here is a detailed map of Guangdong province. We will be staying in Guangzhou. LaoLao is in Yangchun. It is south of Guangzhou; I think it is about a 3-4 hour car ride from Guangzhou. Yangchun has over 1 million people. Prominent crops in the area include rice, sugar cane, and tea oil.
