After breakfast today we went back to the Anhui Civil Affairs Office to complete the adoption. We had our family picture taken, a short interview, and then we received the official adoption papers. As of today, Lollipop and I are a family. Of course we still have paperwork to handle for the United States and L.P.’s visa, but the adoption is final in the eyes of Chi*a. (And ours too!)
Lollipop loves to color! It was evident that she had colored before as she knew exactly what to do. She also loved putting the crayons away and getting out a new color. L.P. also enjoyed the two board books we brought. She also knew what to do with them. It is evident everyday what a good job the orphanage nannies were doing. She has been exposed to all the childhood activities that we could reasonably expect.
After we had dinner we went for a walk around the block. There is a small strolling park across the street. Lollipop got a chance to walk around and also to try out the hotel’s stroller. Sometimes she seems a bit overwhelmed outside, but she enjoyed walking around.
We have a big day tomorrow as we are going to the Hefei Zoo in the morning. Also of interest, there will be a total solar eclipse tomorrow, visible in its totality from here in Hefei. That will be a sight to see (without looking at the sun directly)! It will be the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century, visible for 6 minutes, 58 seconds! It’s supposed to be rainy tomorrow, though, so I don’t know how that’ll affect viewing. What a treat!
