Gotcha Day

We met Lollipop at about 9:30 this morning. She didn't cry and came to me easily. She was clutching a pink bear that I had sent her via a care package. We signed some papers and learned a bit of information about her daily schedule. When her nanny and the orphanage director left, there were almost tears, but she was easily distracted. She clutched onto her toys closely. After about 30 minutes, we left and went to Walmart. Needless to say, for someone who has never been out of the orphanage a multi-story Walmart was quite a sight for her (and a sight for us too!). She looked a bit overwhelmed at times and clutched her bear closely. We bought some necessary supplies and even a little piece of luggage for all of her new things.

We got back to the hotel at about 11:30. She checked out some of her new toys trying to pick up the new ones without letting go of any she had already. She had some goldfish crackers and then a lunch made of baby rice cereal and formula. She must have been very hungry as she ate eagerly. When Mom got out some iced jasmine tea for us she pointed at it. We gave her some from our cup and she quite liked it. We put some in a sippy cup and after a couple of seconds trying to figure it out, she sucked and gladly finished it up. Our guide helped us buy a video CD of baby nursery rhymes in Chi*ese. We've been playing them on the computer, and she sways to the music.

She fell asleep about 12:45 and that is what she is doing now. Overall it has been a busy, yet exciting day.

Here are some first pictures. More to come soon.
